An interesting discussion ensued a few weeks ago when Sony declared that ripping a CD (that you own!) is illegal. It really is amazing to watch the defense of the old paradigm of music distribution.
I do not condone illegal file sharing but restricting the ability to change the format of the media that you OWN is going too far. Here's the fascinating discussion:
